Supertyphoon Mawar not stopping Bacolod chicken inasal festival
BACOLOD CITY — Super Typhoon Mawar is not stopping the opening today, Friday, May 26, of the three-day Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the festival, which would open at 5 p.m. at North Capitol Road in Bacolod, would go on as scheduled.
Benitez said the weather forecast indicated that the rain would only be about 3 millimeters on Friday and intermittent rain would be from 5 p.m. on Friday until Saturday morning.
Bacolod police officers and other uniformed service units, and emergency response teams, totaling 613, had been deployed to secure the festival sites.
The security forces were dispatched during a ceremony at the Bacolod City Police Office gymnasium.
The festival opening will be followed by beer tasting and pairing of chef’s inasal versions at North Capitol Road and Capitol Lagoon Park at 6 p.m. on Friday.
At 4 p.m. on Saturday, the Barangay Inasal Cook-Off will be held at the Manokan Country and SM City Bacolod, followed by the Chicken Inasal Awards at the SM Atrium at 5 p.m. and a live cooking demonstration by celebrity chef Jose Sarasola at the Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
