Lightning strikes in Cavite; 2 dead, 1 hurt

LUCENA CITY — Two persons died while three others were injured on Thursday, May 25, after lightning struck them  separately in General Trias City in Cavite province.

In a report, the Police Region 4A said three boys playing kites took shelter under a tree when rain poured in Barangay Pasong Camachile.

While waiting for the rain to stop, the boys were struck by a bolt of lightning around 7:30 p.m.

The victims suffered burn injuries and were brought to Gen. Trias Medicare Hospital but one of the boys, Xiam Parangan, 10, was declared dead on arrival.

John Carlo Mira, 9, remained under hospital confinement while Vince Angelo Angcaya, 8, was under home treatment, the report said.

In Barangay Santiago, Edison Hachero and Jovic Gubat were standing on the road around 7:30 p.m. when hit by lightning, the police said.

Hachero died from burn injuries while being taken to the same hospital. Gubat suffered minor injuries and was discharged after treatment. INQ
