Estate tax amnesty extension nears passage
House ways and means panel Chair Rep. Joey Salceda said his committee will push the House of Representatives to adopt the Senate’s version of the bill extending the estate tax amnesty once the Senate passes it on final reading on Monday. “No more bicameral conference for that one. No need, anyway. The House ways and means committee concurs with the provisions of the Senate version,” he said on Wednesday. Congress will adjourn on June 3, which means both chambers have until May 31 to act on the measure and the President should sign it by the original deadline of June 14. —JULIE M. AURELIO
