A TOTAL of 46 teams have already signed up for the 12th Cebu Interclub Football Cup slated from May 19 to 27 at the football fields of the University of San Carlos Technological Center, San Roque and PAREF Springdale.
But more teams can still join as the deadline of submission of entries and final lineup for this year’s tournament organized by the Cebu Amateur Football Club (CAFC) will be on May 5.
Francis Ramirez of the CAFC said that each category will have a maximum of 10 teams and they have yet to see if they will be able to accept more than their targeted maximum.
Only three slots are open for the players 10, one for both the boys 12, 14 and 17, two for the men’s open and six for the 40 above category.
Ramirez also said that matches will already be played on May 19 but the tournament will officially be opened on May 20.
The opening will have its usual affair of raffling of football items and the fun games.
Organizers would have liked to close the tournament with a bang like last year, wherein they had the Philippine Azkals awarding the winners. But CAFC president Glenn Quisido wants to come up with something else depending on the availability of the Cebu City Sports Center (CCSC)./CORRESPONDENT MARS G. ALISON
