COTABATO CITY — The Bangsamoro police thanked the regional government for the turnover of mobility and firepower equipment that would boost police capabilities in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Brigadier General Allan Nobleza, BARMM police director, assured on Monday that the new equipment would be used to improve police capability in maintaining law and order in the region.
The equipment, which included four patrol cars funded under the Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) of Member of Parliament Raissa Jajurie, were turned over to the BARMM police by BARMM Interior and Local Government Minister Naguib Sinarimbo in a simple ceremony inside the BARMM compound on Thursday, May 18.
In turn, Nobleza turned over the patrol cars to the police provincial offices of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, and Basilan.
“We are dedicated to assisting the Bangsamoro government, led by the Chief Minister. We fully support the stability, peace, and order in the entire region,” Nobleza said during another ceremony on Monday in Parang town.
Senior Minister Abunawas “Von” Maslamama said he expected a strong partnership between the police and the Bangsamoro government, especially in the implementation of programs and projects aimed at ensuring the region’s peace and order.
Nobleza also turned over 86 light motorcycles and 200 units of 5.56 mm basic assault rifles from Camp Crame to the provincial police forces of Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte, Basilan, Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, Cotabato City and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion RMFB 14. “These resources will boost the move and shoot capabilities of the police force in BARMM,” Nobleza said.
He said he also looked forward to the construction of the Maguindanao del Norte police headquarters building being pushed by the MILG next year. Sinarimbo said the proposed project had been included in the region’s 2024 budget.
“We expect these equipment to help maintain peace and order in the area and we hope the good partnership between the Bangsamoro government and the police will continue,” Sinarimbo said.
