DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — One of the suspects in killing a man in Magsaysay town, Davao del Sur on Monday admitted to police that he did it to settle a personal grudge.

According to Captain Rodrigo Dumangas Jr., acting police chief of Magsaysay town, said Jerome Juario, 21, a construction laborer and resident of Barangay Kasuga, told police that a tiff between him and the victim, Rollie Mansilagan, 22, of Barangay Dalawinon, led to the attack.

Mansilagan, who operates a grilled chicken stall, was conversing with a friend outside his house past midnight when a motorcycle with three men aboard stopped. One of the men then approached Mansilagan with a bolo, hacked his neck, and fled to the waiting motorcycle.

As the incident was immediately reported to authorities, police forces called on law enforcement forces, including civilian peace volunteers to establish roadblocks to check on motorists.

Dumangas said one of the motorcycles flagged by barangay watchmen in Barangay Kasuga had three persons on board that fit the description of the hacking suspects, according to accounts of witnesses relayed to the police.

One witness positively identified Juario as the one who alighted from a motorcycle and hacked the victim, Dumangas added.

Apart from Juario, also arrested were construction workers Denis Molion Tecson, 23, who drove the motorcycle, and Renel John Estrada, 23, of Barangay New Clarin, Bansalan town.

They were placed under the custody of the Magsaysay police station for investigation.
