DOH: 12,426 confirmed COVID-19 infections from May 15 to 21
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday said it recorded 12,426 new COVID-19 infections from May 15 to 21, a slight increase from the 12,414 cases recorded the previous week.
In its weekly report, the DOH said the latest infections translate to a daily average of 1,775 cases or 0.01 percent higher than the 1,773 daily average cases recorded from May 8 to 14.
Eighty-seven or 0.70 percent of the recorded infections were also tagged as critical or severe, with active critical or severe COVID-19 admissions currently at 486.
The DOH also tallied 13 new deaths.
Meanwhile, despite the rise in infections, the utilization of ICU beds decreased from 18.8 to 18.2 percent, while the non-ICU bed utilization rate increased from 21.7 to 23.0 percent during the same period.
Based on the DOH’s online COVID-19 tracker, as of May 21, the Philippines has logged 4,127,268 cases with 4,044,740 recoveries and 66,466 deaths.
