MANILA, Philippines — An undisclosed number of  Philippine Identification cards (PhilID) were “affected” by the fire that hit Manila Central Post Office on Monday, said the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

According to PSA, it is still coordinating with the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost) regarding the exact number of PhilIDs that were possibly damaged by the blaze.

“Based on the initial information provided by the PHLPost, only PhilIDs for delivery in the City of Manila were affected by the fire. The PSA is working with the PHLPost to determine the number of PhilIDs affected,” said the PSA in a statement.

PSA said it would replace a PhilID if it were lost in the fire.

“We assure the public that the PhilIDs affected by the fire shall be replaced by the PSA at no additional cost to concerned registered persons, following protocols set by the PSA for such scenarios,” said PSA.

The fire hit the Manila Post Office early Monday morning, injuring seven people.
