SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — Masks, liquor ban, and curfew hours have been enforced again since Thursday, May 18, in Masinloc town as this province recorded an upward trend in new cases of COVID-19 this month.
In an executive order, Masinloc Mayor Arsenia Lim ordered the reactivation of some protocols, such as wearing face masks indoors and providing alcohol dispensers in enclosed establishments.
She also ordered a liquor ban in all places within the municipality and curfew hours in all public places from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
Lim directed all police personnel and municipal enforcers, including all members of barangay peacekeeping action teams, to strictly enforce the order.
The number of active cases in the province continued to increase after having no active cases on April 15.
Provincial health office data showed that as of Friday, the number of active cases had increased to 30, but only one of them was from Masinloc.
The number of COVID-19 fatalities in the province also increased to 742 on Thursday, the first time it increased since April 9.
Since 2020, the province had recorded 12,763 confirmed cases of COVID-19, 11,995 of which have recovered from the disease.
As of Friday, only 73.76 percent of the province’s total population was fully vaccinated against the disease. INQ
