MRT-3 coach emits smoke, over 200 passengers unloaded at Santolan station

MANILA, Philippines — Around 285 passengers were forced to disembark at the MRT-3 Santolan Station in Quezon City Thursday night after smoke was detected under of train coaches  emitted smoke.

In an advisory, MRT-3 management said all passengers were safely transferred to the next northbound train at around 9:08 p.m.

“The affected train will undergo a mandatory inspection in order to determine the cause of the smoke,” said MRT-3 officer in charge Jorjette Aquino.

“The MRT-3 management apologizes to the affected passengers for the inconvenience caused by the incident,” she added.

Another train had a door malfunction Thursday morning and temporarily disrupted operations.
