Cheaper plane fares expected with June’s Level 4 fuel surcharge drop

MANILA, Philippines — The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) on Thursday announced that the fuel surcharge for domestic and international flights decreased from the current Level 5 to Level 4 for June 2023.
With this, air travelers can expect lower-priced tickets as the fuel surcharge for domestic flights for each passenger would range from P117 to P342 under Level 4.
On the other hand, the fuel surcharge for international travelers would then range from P385.70 to P2,867.82, depending on the distance.
Currently, at Level 5, domestic flights’ fuel surcharge ranges from P151 to P542, while international flights range from P498.03 to P3,703.
According to CAB in its advisory, airlines wishing to impose the said fuel surcharge in June must file their application with CAB, with fuel surcharge rates not exceeding the above-stated level.
“For fuel surcharge to be collected in equivalent currency, the applicable conversion rate for the same period is $1 = P55.45,” said CAB.
