Market helper slain, 1 hurt in Rizal town shooting

'High-value' drug pusher busted in Rizal

LUCENA CITY — A market store helper was shot and killed and his companion was wounded early Thursday, May 18, by an unidentified gunman, in Taytay town in Rizal province.

The Region 4A police said in a spot report that Percival Leonardo was driving his tricycle to the market around 2:30 a.m. to open a stall, where he works as a helper, when a gunman shot him repeatedly in Barangay Dolores.

A stray bullet also hit the left wrist of the tricycle passenger, Stephen de Dios, who just hitched a ride.

The gunman fled after the shooting.

The victims were taken to Taytay Emergency Hospital but Leonardo died on the way.

The police were checking if there was a security camera around the crime scene for possible identification of the gunman.

An investigation is ongoing to establish the motive behind the killing.
