Bounty raised for arrest of girl's killer in Cotabato town

TULUNAN, Cotabato – The local government here is offering a cash reward to anyone who could provide information leading to the arrest of a man who stabbed to death a 14 year old girl over the weekend.

Tulunan Mayor Ruel Limbungan is offering a P50,000 reward while another P25,000 was offered by Barangay Bual.

According to Limbungan, the suspect, farmer Joven Tanguirido, 30, is now in hiding after stabbing to death a 14-year-old girl last Sunday.

Tanguirido allegedly solicited sex from the girl while she was in a drinking binge with friends.

After she turned down Tanguirido, she left the area  but was tailed by the suspect.

The girl sustained multiple stab wounds in various parts of her body and was pronounced dead upon arrival at a local hospital.

“I am calling on the suspect to surrender and face the consequences of his act. The people of Tulunan are now looking for you,” Limbungan appealed on local radio.

Limbungan said the suspect is allegedly the leader of a local gang who was linked to a murder case in nearby Barangay Maybula.

As a result of the incident, Limbungan revived the local curfew for minors, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
