MANILA, Philippines — A 60-year-old American fugitive was arrested by authorities in Zambales, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) reported on Wednesday.

The man was identified as Eduardo Rojas Minas, who is wanted for sex crimes in Nevada.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the agency’s fugitive search unit (FSU) operatives nabbed the suspect in Sta. Cruz on May 15, 2023.

Minas has been on the wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

The warrant of arrest against him was issued by a Justice Court in Las Vegas township, Clark County, Nevada.

BI-FSU acting chief Renell Ryan Sy said Minas was charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of statutory sexual seduction based on the information the country obtained from US authorities.

The fugitive eluded arrest, fled to the Philippines, and had not left the country since 2006.

“He will be deported for overstaying and being an undesirable and undocumented alien. He no longer holds a valid passport since it already expired in January 2013 and was not renewed,” Tansingco said.

He added Minas will be “perpetually barred from re-entering the country following his crimes.”

The fugitive is detained at the BI holding facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.
