‘Who’s the good one and better one between JV, Jinggoy?’ CA asks generals

MANILA, Philippines — Generals hurdling the Commission on Appointments were asked Wednesday about who is “the good one and the better one” between Senators JV Ejercito and Jinggoy Estrada.

At the committee level, Camarines Sur 2nd district Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte posed the tongue-in-cheek question to Presidential Security Group commander Demy Zagala and Brig. Gen. Antonio Francisco Jr.

Francisco was asked first by Villafuerte, who said: “I just like to ask, can you confirm who is the good one and the better one?”

Before Francisco answered the question, Estrada quipped: “You better be careful with your answer because if you choose the other one, I might not confirm you, and vice versa. Just kidding.”

The military official said both of them are “best one.”

“Actually sir, wala po talaga akong itulak-kabigin pero naniniwala po akong walang ‘The Good One,’ kasi pareho po silang ‘The Best One’,” he said.

(Actually, sir, I could not pick between the two, but I believe neither of them is “The Good One” because they are both “The Best One.”)

Villafuerte also asked Zagala the same question, who responded: “Your honor, the people have voted for both brothers Senator Jinggoy and Senator JV, and I believe both are very good, and with their own expertise put to the table here in the Senate by putting laws and improvements to our country. So for me, sir, both are very good.”

During the senatorial campaigns, Ejercito used the slogan “The Good One.” In response, Estrada called himself “The Better One.”
