THE 5TH CEBUANA Lhuillier Tennis Circuit will kick off with its qualifying round today at the Baseline Recreation Center tennis courts.
The 32-man main draw of the singles open will kick off tomorrow, featuring the country’s top 16 tennis players spearheaded by grandslam champion Johnny Arcilla of Butuan City.
The qualifying round will have four slots at stake for the main draw.
The singles open champion will win P40,000 and add 300 points to his rankings.
Aside from the top 16 netters, elite Cebuano players will also be competing in this event. Among them is 15-year-old Arthur Craig “Iggy” Pantino, who is being trained by the event’s tournament director Jun Toledo. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
