Burglars steal cash aid, laptop from Quezon governor’s extension office

LUCENA CITY — Burglars broke into the satellite office of Quezon Governor Angelina Tan in Gumaca town and took cash and office equipment on Saturday (May 13), a police report said Sunday (May 14).

In a report, Quezon police said the robbery incident was discovered and immediately reported to the local police station on Saturday at 7:30 a.m.

The perpetrators reportedly took P50,000 intended as emergency cash assistance to local indigents and a laptop computer inside the office located in Barangay (village) Tabing Dagat.

According to the report, the burglars broke into the office by destroying the front door padlocks and, once inside, forcibly opened the steel cabinet.

The robbers also took away the closed-circuit television or CCTV camera to commit the crime undetected.

The police are conducting investigations to identify and arrest the culprits.

Tan maintains the extension offices in all municipalities in the province to expedite assistance requests, particularly emergency cash aid, from local residents.

The Gumaca office also serves as an extension of the office of Tan’s son, Quezon fourth district Representative Keith Micah Tan.
