Security guard yields illegal gun in Lucena City
LUCENA CITY – Police manning a checkpoint on Wednesday arrested a security guard while carrying an illegal firearm in this city.
The city police reported on Thursday, May 11, that while conducting checkpoints after the ambush of a motorcycle rider, they flagged down around 9:30 a.m. two motorcycle riders for not wearing helmets while traveling along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Ibabang Iyam.
One of the policemen noticed a “protruding object” inside the bag of back-rider Jeffrey Balundo, 23.
Upon inspection, the cops found a .38 revolver loaded with seven bullets inside the bag.
Balundo failed to produce the permit for the firearm that led to his arrest.

Article continues after this advertisementEarlier, an unidentified motorcycle-riding gunman shot dead a male motorcyclist near the area.
The gunman is now the subject of police manhunt. Investigation is ongoing.
