TAGBILARAN CITY — Pedro “Pedi” Bolanio, the oldest broadcaster in Bohol, died on Wednesday, March 10.
He was 83.
His family has yet to reveal the cause of his death.
His colleagues considered Bolanio as “the legendary broadcaster of Bohol” with a career in the media industry lasting for six decades.
Known for his intelligent and insightful interviews and stories, Bolanio hosted a number of news and public affairs shows, including Silab sa Udtong Tutok, Kwentas Klaras, Rampa Showbiz, and DBP.
He was considered the “most durable” media personality in Bohol having witnessed the rise and fall of political leaders as well as Bohol tourism.
In 2018, Bolanio was a “Hall of Famer” of the Association of Writers and Radio Announcers Foundation Inc., Bohol Literary Arts Cultural Circle, National Visayas Cultural Association Inc., and Lubas sa Dinagaang Bisaya “for his exemplary service to the community, dedication to duty, and valuable contribution to the field of journalism and mass communications.”
