Cavite logs 557 active COVID-19 cases

LUCENA CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in Cavite province is on the rise again, based on the latest record by local health authorities.

In its latest bulletin on Wednesday, May 10, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) listed 557 active cases from only 28 on April 7 based on its data. The coronavirus-infected patients were admitted to several hospitals, while some are on home quarantine in the province’s seven cities and 16 municipalities.

Provincial health authorities did not provide information on the COVID-19 variants of the active cases.

On Wednesday, the PHO listed 158 newly infected patients in the province. The health authorities also reported the deaths of three infected patients in Bacoor City, Dasmariñas City, and Amadeo town.

Tanza town has the most active COVID-19 cases with 134, a significant increase from the seven logged in the locality last April 7.

Tanza is followed by Imus City with 88 active cases and Bacoor with 76. The towns of Magallanes, Rosario and Ternate have the lowest list with one active case each.

As of Wednesday, Cavite has recorded 192,388 COVID-19 cases, 188,003 recoveries, and 3,828 deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020.

The PHO report did not provide records of their COVID-19 vaccinations in the province.
