Clouds, rains in Northern Luzon due to frontal system — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines— Cloudy skies and rainfall due to a frontal system are expected in extreme Northern Luzon on Tuesday, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

High chances of rain and overcast skies apply particularly to Batanes and Babuyan Islands, reported state weather specialist Daniel Villamil.

“Sa kasalukuyan, itong frontal system— o yung boundary o tagpuan ng mainit at malamig na hangin— ang siyang makakaapekto sa extreme Northern Luzon. Kaya asahan natin itong mga kaulapan at pag-ulan sa nabanggit na lugar buong araw,” he said in Pagasa’s Tuesday forecast.

(Currently, this frontal system— or the boundary where hot and cold winds meet— will affect extreme Northern Luzon. Let us expect cloudy skies and rain all day in the aforementioned areas.)

Hot and humid weather with chances of rain due to localized thunderstorms will continue to hit the remaining parts of Luzon from the afternoon until this evening, according to the weather bureau.

Villamil highlighted that the northeastern parts of Luzon especially can expect higher chances of rain from midday until nighttime.

While no low pressure areas (LPA) within or outside of the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) are currently being monitored by Pagasa, Villamil advised citizens all over the country to monitor possible thunderstorm advisories issued by the weather body’s regional centers in the previously mentioned localities.

“Maging handa po tayo sa mga banta ng biglang pagbaha o pagguho ng lupa, lalong lalo na kung severe thunderstorm ‘yung magpapaulan sa ating lugar,” he added.

(Let us prepare ourselves for sudden flooding or landslides, especially if severe thunderstorms are expected to bring rain to your area.)

Visayas and Mindanao can also expect generally fair weather conditions on Tuesday, with chances of isolated rain showers lasting 30 minutes to two hours, according to Pagasa. The use of umbrellas is also recommended for those in these areas as protection from both heat and rain.

Pagasa did not raise any gale warnings over any of the country’s seaboard, giving the country’s fishers and other small sea vessel operators the green light to set sail on Tuesday.
