PCG arrests 2 Indonesians over smuggling of cigarettes worth ₱600K

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday said its operatives arrested two Indonesians for their alleged involvement in smuggling of ₱600,000 worth of cigarettes in Sarangani province.

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday said its operatives arrested two Indonesians for their alleged involvement in smuggling of ₱600,000 worth of cigarettes in Sarangani province.

PCG operatives intercepted an unnamed motorbanca with two Indonesian crew at Barangay Taliac, Maasim, Sarangani Province on Saturday while they were doing a routine maritime patrol.

On board the motorbanca were Indonesians identified as Fadli Machamud and Fajar Antanari, of legal age.

After the initial investigation and health check-up, Coast Guard personnel brought the Indonesians to the Maasim Police Station for case filing and their deportation.

They also endorsed the seized items to the Bureau of Customs for proper disposition.
