MCWD distributes water to quake-hit Negros town

THE Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) sent anew an eight-cubic meter-capacity truck to Ayungon Water District in Ayungon town, Negros Oriental, whose water system was damaged by the 6.9 earthquake last Feb. 6.

The truck was turned over by MCWD Public Affairs manager Charmaine Rodriguez to Ayungon Water District general manager Harold Jabel.

MCWD also sent three personnel—Romeo Castañares, Roy Famador and Carlito Panong—to man the truck in the distribution of potable water to residents.

The three MCWD Production and Distribution Department personnel stayed in Ayungon for a week.

Members of the Visayas Association of Water Districts also donated pipe fittings and goods.

Ayungon Mayor Edsel Enardecido was thankful for the assistance for the assistance.

In December last year, MCWD also sent two water trucks to Cagayan de Oro shortly before Christmas to help in the distribution of water to Typhoon Sendong victims. The eight-man team stayed in Cagayan de Oro until after New Year.
