PSA says over 61 million PhilIDs, ePhilIDs already delivered
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Thursday said that it had already delivered a total of 61.45 million Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) IDs nationwide.
According to PSA, in a statement, 37.11 million PhilIDs have been printed from the facilities of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), with 29.84 million delivered by the Philippine Post Office.
The PSA also introduced the ePhilID, an electronic counterpart of the PhilID, which holds the same functionality and validity as the physical card, with 31.70 million delivered by PSA field offices.
“This brings a combined total of 61.54 million PhilIDs and ePhilIDs delivered, which can already be used by registrants in transactions,” said the PSA
“This is already 78.4 percent of the total Step 2 registrants, but rest assured that the PSA is continuously engaging with the BSP and Post Office further to accelerate the printing and delivery of the physical cards,” it added.
PSA said that through the co-location strategy with the Land Bank of the Philippines in PhilSys registration, about 8.4 million unbanked Filipinos had gained access to formal financial services, 5.8 million of which have been able to open transaction accounts — with a total of P275.8 million worth of transactions already circulated in said accounts.
The PSA also said that it is currently collaborating with the Department of Social Welfare and Development by data matching individuals belonging to poor households from its “Listahanan” (list) with the PhilSys Registry “to verify uniqueness. ”
A total of 30.5 million individuals from 5.4 million households are currently being verified.
