MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Valenzuela has announced the implementation of hybrid classes for students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 from May 4-6 amid the prevailing hot and humid weather in Metro Manila.
Students with morning classes will still be required to physically attend sessions from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. but may go home and continue studying asynchronously by 10:31 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., according to the local government.
On the other hand, students in the afternoon/evening classes are only required to go to school from 2:31 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with the first sessions – 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. – conducted at home.
“Sa mga susunod na araw maaaring magbago ang schedule na ito depende sa panahon o kung gaanong kainit ang panahon,” Mayor Weslie “Wes” Gatchalian explained in a statement released on Wednesday night.
(In the future, this schedule may change depending on the weather or how hot the weather is.)
Gatchalian likewise mentioned that they ordered 100 additional electric fans, which will be distributed to various schools in the Valenzuela City, in a bid to lessen the impact of rising temperature on students and faculty members.
Based on the state weather bureau’s forecast, Metro Manila is expected to continue experiencing hot and humid weather on Thursday, May 4, with temperatures likely reaching 34 degrees Celsius.
