3 dead in Rizal townhouse fire

LUCENA CITY — Three persons died on Wednesday, May 3, in a fire that razed their house in Rodriguez town in Rizal province.

Fire investigators found at 3:05 a.m. the bodies of Reinero Basco, 79; his wife, Alegria, 78; and their grandson, Hephaesto Clark Basco, 20, inside their burned house in Barangay San Jose, Region 4A, the police said in a report.

The report said the victims were trapped inside their house during the fire which lasted for 35 minutes.

No other casualties and houses were affected by the fire, the police reported.

Initial investigation by the local fire protectors said the blaze may have been caused by faulty electrical wiring
