9 rescued as boat capsizes off Northern Samar

A boy dies after a coconut tree cut by a man in Northern Samar fell on him

 

ORMOC CITY — Nine persons  were rescued after their motorboat capsized off Barangay Aguin in Capul, Northern Samar on Tuesday.

Authorities identified the rescued passengers as boat owner and skipper Danilo Magloyuan Andarino, 62;  Gelon Gordo, Leny Andarino, Darry Andarino, Lucy Andarino, Imee Andarino, Fatima Javier, Jhon Paul Gordo, and Arjen Esquillo.

Investigation conducted by the Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine Navy and the local police showed that the said motorboat loaded with three sacks of copra were sailing from Capul, Northern Samar to Matnog, Sorsogon when it was battered by big waves.

The rescued passengers were immediately brought to a healthcare facility in Capul for medical examinations.
