P2.3M worth of illegal drugs seized from 3 suspects in Pagadian City

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur — Three persons caught in possession of some P2.3 million worth of suspected illegal drugs were arrested in a joint buy-bust operation Tuesday, May 2, at the JRC Hotel in Purok Sampaguita, San Pedro District in this city.

Police said they arrested Ronilo Toting Obedas, 46, a baker; Neil Ampoller Sasing, 32, a mechanic; and Mark Jay Jumawan Sumera, 29, a driver. Obedas and Sasing are both residents of Purok Abaga, Maranding, Lala town of Lanao del Norte; while Sumera is from Purok Dao, Maranding, also of Lala.

Confiscated during the operation were three large heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu, weighing 350 grams worth about P2.3 million; some P75,000 boodle money topped with one genuine P1,000 bill used as buy-bust money; two cellular phones, and one sunglass case used as container.

Police brought the confiscated drug items to the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Forensic Unit for examination while the suspects were detained as police prepared charges against them of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to a
source from the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit.
