Piper plane overshoots runway at Palanan airport

CITY OF CAUAYAN, Isabela — A Piper light airplane plying the coastal towns in Isabela figured in a bad landing on Wednesday, May 3, and overshot the runway of the Palanan airport in this province, authorities said.

CAAP said Cyclone Airways-operated Piper PA-31-350 Navajo Chieftain aircraft experienced a “runway excursion” at the Palanan Airport at around 10:13 a.m.

All nine passengers were rescued and safely brought to the airport terminal for a checkup.

“All nine passengers of the aircraft concerned were safely disembarked and attended to. Post-incident protocols were immediately initiated,” CAAP said.

Investigators from the Aircraft Accident Investigation and Inquiry Board (AAIIB) were deployed on-site to investigate the incident and supervise the extraction of the aircraft.

Palanan Airport resumed normal operations at 11:23 a.m.
