MANILA, Philippines — A total of 104,071 students are expected to take the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT) this year, which will be held in person for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, UP President Angelo Jimenez said on Tuesday.
Jimenez said that the UPCAT would be held on June 3 to 4 in 101 testing centers nationwide, with 40,000 takers at the UP Diliman campus in Quezon City.
“The basis of UPCAT is that 60 percent is based on the test, but 40 percent is your grades in Grade 8, Grade 9, Grade 10, and then Grade 11,” he said.
He said “roughly 10 percent” of examinees pass the UPCAT and the university could accept about 15,000 freshmen next school year.
He reminded the examinees to stay fit and healthy, saying UP would not offer special examinations for those who would miss the UPCAT.
“You really have to physically go to the testing center. There will be no special exams, no special exams if you are late, or if you have something important to do,” he added.
