“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista to restore normal power operations at the Naia Terminal 3 as soon as possible while providing all necessary assistance to affected passengers,” the Presidential Communications Office said in a statement.
Marcos is currently in the United States for an official four-day visit, where he is expected to meet his American counterpart, President Joe Biden.
Standby power
According to the Miaa, standby power sources are being used for “critical facilities enabling computer systems of airlines and immigration to function partially and enable processing of both inbound and outbound passengers.”
While coordination with the Manila Electric Company is already underway to determine the cause of the power failure, Miaa said its personnel are doing rounds to assist passengers affected by the power outage.
