Marcos to DOTr chief: Fix power failure at Naia Terminal 3 ASAP

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has directed Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista to address the power outage that hit the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on Monday, May 1.
The Manila International Airport Authority (Miaa) earlier said delays and cancelations of flights are expected due to the power failure that happened at around 1:05 a.m.

“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista to restore normal power operations at the Naia Terminal 3 as soon as possible while providing all necessary assistance to affected passengers,” the Presidential Communications Office said in a statement.
Marcos is currently in the United States for an official four-day visit, where he is expected to meet his American counterpart, President Joe Biden.
Standby power
Article continues after this advertisementAccording to the Miaa, standby power sources are being used for “critical facilities enabling computer systems of airlines and immigration to function partially and enable processing of both inbound and outbound passengers.”
While coordination with the Manila Electric Company is already underway to determine the cause of the power failure, Miaa said its personnel are doing rounds to assist passengers affected by the power outage.
