Vice President Sara Duterte will be the government’s caretaker while President Marcos is abroad, Presidential Communications Secretary Cheloy Velicaria-Garafil said on Saturday. As officer in charge (OIC), Duterte will take care of the daily operations of the Office of the President and oversee the administration of the Executive Department. Duterte will be the OIC for about 10 days as the President, together with First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, will fly to Washington on Sunday for a five-day official visit to the United States, his 10th official trip abroad since he assumed office on June 30 last year. As of Saturday afternoon, Malacañang has not released the list of delegates who would join the President’s trip. After the United States, Mr. Marcos will fly to London for King Charles III”s coronation on May 6 and return to the country on May 7 before leaving for Labuan Bajo in Indonesia on May 9 to attend the 42nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations Summit on May 10 to May 11. —Nestor Corrales
