DIGOS CITY, Davao del Sur — A 44-year-old construction worker died on the spot after he was shot Friday at close range by a still unidentified, a police report said.
Lieutenant Colonel Hamlet Lerios, Digos City police chief, identified the victim as Summy Lapaz Udang, of Barangay San Miguel in this city.
Udang suffered a gunshot wound on his forehead.
Witnesses told investigators that the victim, who was on a motorcycle, stopped in front of Kerokek’s Lechon Manok and Liempo Hauz, apparently to buy food.
Minutes later, a man wearing black jacket and blue shirt approached and had a verbal tussle with Udang. which ended with him pulling a handgun and shooting the victim.
Captain Jeofrey Benjie Bueno of the Davao del Sur Police Forensic Unit said they failed to find any spent shells at the crime scene.
Lerios said they were conducting intensive investigation to find the identity of the gunman and the possible motive behind the shooting of Udang. you
