AGUSAN DEL SUR—At least three people died and 36 others were hurt when a cargo truck carrying mourners attending a funeral fell on its side along the national road in Prosperidad town on Thursday, police said on Friday.
Supt. Martin Gamba, spokesperson of the Caraga police office, identified the fatalities as Wennie Valencia, Laiza Valencia and Rey Maturan. Thirty six others suffered injuries and were rushed to the hospital in the town proper for treatment.
Gamba said an Isuzu six-wheeler truck was traversing the Agusan-Butuan national road around 4 p.m. heading to Barangay La Perian, Prosperidad, when it swerved and fell to its side, pinning most of the victims.
