COTABATO CITY — The Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) in Tacurong City of Sultan Kudarat province conferred an honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Institutional Development and Management to First Lady Louise “Liza” C. Araneta-Marcos Thursday for her valuable contribution to the country and to the SKSU community.
In a statement, the SKSU said the honorary degree is conferred upon individuals for outstanding achievements in their field and exemplary service to their fellowmen.
“The honoree is a lawyer and a professor, an advocate of education, culture, arts, and tradition. Moreover, she is always a staunch supporter of education,” the state university said.
The First Lady was also awarded as the first adopted daughter of SKSU.
The statement also said that the honoree believes that everyone has the potential to become a top-notch lawyer if provided with the necessary guidance and support.
SKSU described her as an active believer in the preservation of Filipino culture through continuous documentation and research, as well as a patron of the Arts.
The First Lady is one of the Board of Trustees of the Asian Cultural Council that is advocating the advancement of international dialogue, understanding, and respect through cultural exchange activities in Asia and the United States to create a more harmonious and peaceful world.
The conferment program held at the SKSU Gymnasium in Tacurong City was attended by Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos, SKSU President Dr. Samson L. Molao, Sultan Kudarat Gov. Pax Ali Mangudadatu, Maguindanao del Sur Gov. Mariam Mangudadatu, and Commission on Higher Education Region 12 Director Dr. Nelia A. Alibin.
