MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City police operatives have confiscated 1,959 illegal firearms during their week-long “Oplan Katok” from April 17-23.
“The QCPD Oplan Katok successfully resulted in the identification of 1,959 firearms classified as pistols, machine pistols, high-powered pistols, revolvers, and shotguns. With the total of identified firearms, 64 firearms were surrendered for safe keeping,” QCPD Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said.
Torre also said their operation against loose firearms was in line with the directive of the National Capital Region Police Office to intensify anti-criminality campaigns in cities of Metro Manila.
“This successful operation is an indication that your police force is doing their best to keep our citizens safe from lawless elements,” he added. —Aliah Gumasing, trainee
