5.6-magnitude quake hits coastal area of Isabela town

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit the coastal area of Maconacon in Isabela on Sunday afternoon (April 23), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in an advisory.

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela–A 5.6-magnitude earthquake hit the coastal area of Maconacon in Isabela on Sunday afternoon (April 23), the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said in an advisory.

Phivolcs said that the quake hit at 5:19 p.m. It was recorded 55 kilometers deep and was tectonic in origin.

The quake was recorded 18 km north and 17 km east of Maconacon.

The following Instrumental Intensities were recorded in the following areas:

Aftershocks were also recorded.

No immediate reports regarding the effects of the quake was recorded by disaster response offices and police units in the said town. Villamor Visaya Jr. INQ
