LUCENA CITY – A 53-year old mother and her son on board a motorcycle perished following a road crash in Antipolo City Saturday evening

The Police Region 4A on Sunday reported that motorcyclist Herran Lander Alejandro, 25, and his mother Anne, were traveling at around 6:30 p.m. along the Sumulong Highway in Barangay (village) Sta. Cruz when they were hit by a car driven driven by Luis Bayanin III.

The Alejandros were thrown off the vehicle upon impact and fell into a 20-foot ravine on the side of the road where they died.

Bayanin, his wife and 2-year-old son sustained injuries and were taken to the nearest hospital.

Initial investigation showed that Bayanin swerved  to the opposite lane which resulted in the collision.

The report did not say whether or not the fatalities were wearing crash helmets as mandated under the Motorcycle Helmet Act of 2009.
