Palace names new Marcos appointees to DTI, NAP, DND

Malacañang on Friday clarified that the suspension of work on April 5 only applies to the Executive department. 

MANILA, Philippines —The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) on Friday announced the latest appointees of the administration of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

The new officials were designated in the National Archives of the Philippines (NAP), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the Department of National Defense (DND).

Victorino M. Manalo was named the Executive Director of NAP. Manalo also held the same position during the term of former president Benigno Aquino III and was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts in January 2023.

Wena M. Buston was also appointed as a Provincial Trade and Industry Officer at the DTI, said the PCO.    

Both Manalo and Buston were appointed on April 18.

The DND has three new appointments on April 13, with two officers joining the ranks of Brigadier General in the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) – Philippine Army, namely  Brig. Gen. and Erwin Alea and  Brig. Gen. Eugene Mata. 

April Bayabao was also promoted to Lieutenant Commander in the AFP- Philippine Navy said the PCO.
