Pagasa: Hot, humid Thursday due to easterlies

MANILA, Philippines— Most parts of the country can expect hot, humid weather on Thursday according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Wala naman bagyo o low pressure area (LPA) na nasa loob ng Philippine area of responsibility (PAR). At itong easterlies pa rin ang magdadala ng maalinsangang panahon sa malaking parte ng ating bansa,” said Pagasa weather specialist Samuel Duran.

(There is no storm or low pressure areas in the Philippine area of responsibility. The easterlies will continue to bring hot, humid weather conditions to most parts of the country.)

Luzon can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with possible localized thunderstorms.

Duran advises those in the island group to protect themselves against the heat especially at noon, as highest temperatures in key areas may range from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius.

The Visayas and Mindanao can expect similar weather conditions, with localized thunderstorms bringing low chances of rain showers.

No gale warnings were raised over any of the country’s seaboards.

Pagasa projects similar weather conditions in key cities this coming weekend.

“Hanggang linggo ay wala pa rin tayong inaasahang malawakang pag-ulan. So mga localized thunderstorms at maalinsangang panahon, at makikita po natin na umaabot sa 33 to 36 degrees Celsius ang mararanasan natin,” Duran added.

(We do not expect any wide-scale rain until Sunday. We can continue to expect localized thunderstorms and humid weather as we see temperatures reaching anywhere from 33 to 36 degrees Celsius.)

Metro Manila: 25 to 35 degrees Celsius

Baguio City: 18 to 26 degrees Celsius

Laoag City:  25 to 33 degrees Celsius

Tuguegarao: 26 to 36 degrees Celsius

Legazpi City: 26 to 32 degrees Celsius

Puerto Princesa City: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius

Tagaytay: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius

Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius

 

Visayas

Iloilo City: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius

Cebu: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius

Tacloban City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius

 

Mindanao

Cagayan De Oro City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
