MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development under the Department of Science and Technology (DOST-PCIEERD) restored its Facebook page on Wednesday following a hack earlier this month.

“We couldn’t make this without the help of our partner at Meta. Just in time as we celebrate our anniversary for years of strong collaborations with our partners,” wrote the council in a Facebook post.

Since its Facebook page returned on April 14, DOST-PCIEERD has launched several initiatives, including a call for proposals for its Young Innovators Program, which funds high school student researchers.

From 2020 to 2022, the Department of Information and Communications Technology reported 3,000 high-level cyber attacks. Cisco found that only 27% of Philippine companies have cybersecurity resources.
