MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government has joined forces with the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

In a statement on Friday, it said the FDA extended its Bigyang-Halaga, Bangon MSMEs Program to the city which was launched in January.

The program aims to help local entrepreneurs learn about technical and safety requirements for their activities.

The FDA and QC, in a partnership to support MSMEs, signed a MOA for technical assistance, training, and regulatory compliance support.

“Through our partnership with the local government of Quezon City, we aim to provide MSMEs with the resources they need to succeed. This includes access to training, technical assistance, and support in complying with regulatory requirements, said FDA Director-General Samuel Zacate said.

“We recognize the value of our MSMEs and their contribution to the local economy. This partnership will propel them forward as they seek the important certification from FDA to confirm the safety, efficacy, and quality of their food and cosmetic products,” QC Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

The MOA adhered to RA No. 9501 or Magna Carta for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and will create jobs, boost productivity and improve quality of life, as noted by FDA and QC the city government.

Moreover, it added that the Q-Certified program will soon be launched through the Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office (SBDCPO) to assist the MSMEs in any needed certification or registration in other government agencies. —Liezl Projella, trainee
