LUCENA CITY — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives and local police seized more than P3.4 million worth of “shabu” (crystal meth) from three suspected big-time traffickers in a buy-bust operation on Wednesday (April 12) in Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

In a belated report on Thursday afternoon, the PDEA in Region 4A said the suspects—Romel Dela Cruz, 52, a volunteer firefighter; Romeo Acido, 49, a taxi driver; and Guillermo Dela Cruz, 52—were collared at the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant along Santa Rosa-Tagaytay City road in Barangay Don Jose on Wednesday night.

Authorities reportedly found the three in possession of 500 grams of shabu, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board value of P3,450,000.

The police were conducting further investigations to determine the suspects’ source of the illegal drugs.

The suspects were detained and will face charges of violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
