NAIA runway maintenance suspended to enable diverted flights to arrive

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Thursday said it has suspended its routine maintenance closure of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s (NAIA) main runway to support the quick recovery of regular operations after several flights were either canceled or diverted.

“To enable diverted flights to arrive in NAIA and support the quick recovery of regular flight operations, the MIAA  has suspended the routine maintenance closure for NAIA’s main runway, 06/24,” the agency said in an advisory.

According to MIAA, affected airlines have already filed their respective flight recovery plans amid the anticipated improved weather.

“Passengers are encouraged to monitor airline and MIAA websites and social media accounts for updates,” it added.
