DPWH warns of heavy traffic in Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines—Brace for heavy traffic this coming weekend as up to 21 road improvement projects are set to be done in Metro Manila, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said in a statement released Thursday.

DPWH said that the agency is “determined to complete the repair and maintenance activities of major roads before the opening of school classes and the onslaught of rainy season.”

The road improvements will begin on April 13, Friday 10 p.m. and last until April 16, Monday 4 a.m. These are:

1.    Aurora Boulevard (Southbound), Pasay City under supervision of South Manila Engineering District (SMED).

2.    South Superhighway (Southbound) from Zobel Roxas Street to Quirino Avenue under supervision of SMED.

3.    Along Osmeña (Northbound), Manila Zobel Roas Street, to Quirino Avenue under supervision of SMED.

4.    EDSA (Northbound and Southbound), Mandaluoyong City under supervision of First Metro Manila Manila Engineering District (FMMED).

5.    C-5 Road (Southbound), Taguig City under supervision of FMMED.

6.    Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard, Sampaloc, Manila, from Sociego to Rotonda under supervision of North Manila Engineering District (NMED).

7.    A.H. Lacson St., Sampaloc, Manila from Rotonda to Ma.Clara (both sides) under supervision of NMED.

8.    Nagtahan Fly-Over Service Road from R. Magsaysay Blvd. to Ruiloba Street under supervision of NMED.

9.    España Boulevard, Sampaloc, Manila from Corola to Welcome Rotunda    under supervision of NMED.

10. Pasong Tamo Avenue between Makati Diverson Channel and EDSA (center lane) under supervision of Second Metro Manila Engineering District (SMMED).

11. Daang Maharlika in Muntinlupa City under SMMSED.

12. Aurora Boulevard (Eastbound) from Anonas to F. Castillo Street, one lane only –outer lane under supervision of Quezon City Second Engineering District. (QCSED).

13. EDSA, Quezon City (Northbound)  going Cubao area, 2nd lane from sidewalk, BETWEEN Gate 3 and Gate 2 of Camp Aguinaldo under supervision of QCSED.

14. Boni Serrano Avenue between 10th and 7th Avenue under supervision of QCSED.

15. Boni Serrano Avenue, Left lane from EDSA, between 1st West and Gate 3 and between Gate 3 and 1st Avenue) under supervision of QCSED.

16. Araneta Avenue from Baloy Sreet to Landargun Sree, (1st lane from Sidewalk) under supervision of QCSED.

17. Fairview Avenue (Northbound and Southbound) 2nd lane (from Fairlane to Camaro) under  supervision of Quezon City First Engineering District (QCFED).

18. Mindanao Avenue (Northbound) 2nd lane (from Road 20 to MG Square) under  supervision of QCFED.

19. EDSA, Quezon City (Northbound), 3rd lane (from Corregidor to Fema Road) under  supervision of QCFED.

20. EDSA, Quezon City (Southbound), 3rd lane (from Bansalangin to West Avenue) under  supervision of QCFED.

21. M. H. del Pilar Sreet in Malabon City under Malabon-Navotas District Engineering Office (MNDEO).

The DPWH National Capital Region said it was closely coordinating with the Metro Manila Development Authority regarding the expected traffic congestion at the project areas.
