LEGAZPI CITY — Classes at all levels and work in government offices in Naga City were suspended on Thursday, April 13, after the widespread flooding caused by heavy rains dumped by Tropical Depression “Amang.”

In an advisory on Wednesday night, April 12, Mayor Nelson Legacion said this would allow the public to conduct cleaning and clearing operations in their areas. The suspension of work in the private sector was left to the discretion of their respective heads.

Classes from preschool to secondary in the city have been suspended since Wednesday. Legacion said the floodwater came from the Rinconada areas and was aggravated by the high tide from the water tributaries, San Miguel Bay, Bicol and Naga River.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration said in a Facebook post that at 8 a.m., the “Amang” had weakened into a low-pressure area.
