MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said that it has stockpiles and standby funds amounting to P1,430,634,097 to assist victims of the weather disturbance formerly labeled Tropical Depression Amang.
Quick response teams from DSWD central and field offices are ready to be deployed to help affected local government units (LGUs) mitigate the impacts of Amang, which has now weakened into a low pressure area, the agency said in a statement Wednesday.
The DSWD specifically said it has prepositioned food, non-food items, and other supplies in disaster-prone areas for immediate response.

Its field offices were also briefed to ensure that supplies are ready to be distributed to affected LGUs, the DSWD added.
Currently, the DSWD National Resource and Logistics Management Bureau and concerned field offices are repacking items and preparing family food packs to guarantee a sufficient supply of relief goods to disaster-affected communities, the agency further noted. — MJ Soriano, trainee
