LEGAZPI CITY — Continuous rains brought by Tropical Depression “Amang” triggered landslides and flooding in Bula town in Camarines Sur on Wednesday afternoon (April 12).

At around 4 p.m., the Bula municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO), said the Inoyonan – Itagon Road in Barangay (village) Iniyonan was impassable to all types of vehicles after debris from a landslide covered both lanes.

Major Rolando Kalagui Jr., Bula police chief, said in a phone interview Wednesday, that they would start the clearing operations on Thursday morning (April 13) due to unavailability of equipment needed.

The spillway in Barangay Panoypoyan in the same town was also impassable to all types of vehicles since 5 p.m. because of the three-feet floodwater from the Panoypoyan creek that overflowed due to heavy rains, the MDRRMO Bula said.

The spillway in Barangay Lubgan was also impassable to all vehicles.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Southern Luzon issued an orange rainfall warning in Camarines Sur at 1 p.m., which means flooding and landslides were threatening the high-risk areas.

According to Pagasa’s 5 a.m. bulletin, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal no. 1 is still in effect in Camarines Norte, the northwestern portion of Camarines Sur (Sipocot, Cabusao, Bombon, Calabanga, Tinambac, Siruma, Lupi, Ragay, Del Gallego), the eastern portion of Laguna (Cavinti, Kalayaan, Paete, Pangil, Siniloan, Famy, Santa Maria, Lumban, Pakil, Mabitac), the northern and eastern portions of Quezon (Calauag, Infanta, Lopez, Plaridel, Quezon, Alabat, Sampaloc, Mauban, General Nakar, Perez, Gumaca, Atimonan, Real, Tagkawayan, Guinayangan) including Polillo Islands, the eastern portion of Rizal (Tanay, Rodriguez), the eastern portion of Bulacan (Norzagaray, Doña Remedios Trinidad), the eastern portion of Nueva Ecija (Gabaldon, General Tinio), and the central and southern portions of Aurora (Dingalan, Baler, Maria Aurora, San Luis, Dipaculao).
