Coconut farmers discover soldier’s body in Leyte town

A 81-year-old man was stabbed and wounded by his 62-year-old stepson in Bato town, Leyte province on Saturday night.

ORMOC CITY — A body of a soldier was found by coconut farmers in Barangay Balocawehay, Abuyog town in Leyte province on Easter Sunday, April 9.

Abuyog Police Station chief Major Luis Hatton identified the victim as PFC Aries Ampoan, 21, a member of the 14th Infantry Battalion (IB).

Hatton, in an interview, said they are still waiting for the result of the autopsy on the victim to determine the cause of death.

According to the 14th IB, Ampoan conducted monitoring operations about the reported presence of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) on April 2.

Since then, the 14th IB had no contact with Ampoan.
